Aptech Update: Q&A with Aptech President Jill Wilder

Aptech has had some big news the last few weeks; can you tell our readers more about the recent announcement?

Yes, we did have some exciting news to begin 2025! Recently, Aptech was acquired by Jonas Hospitality, a family of hospitality industry-focused technology providers including Aptech, b4Checkin, Bookassist, Jonas Chorum, Leonardo, SpaSoft, Springer-Miller Systems, Jonas Unify and Vizergy. This is an incredible group for us to join.

While Aptech is widely known as a leading provider of back office and accounting solutions for hotels, this partnership will allow our company to provide even more resources and opportunities to our hotel customers–one of which is an incredible users conference planned for November 2-4, 2025, in Las Vegas. The Jonas Hospitality Unified Conference will spotlight all of the technology brands under the Jonas umbrella, review solution updates, and offer extensive networking opportunities for many of our hotel customers. We are excited to have this opportunity to connect with many of our clients and our partners in person later this year.

What made this the right time for Aptech?

More than 50 years ago, Aptech began with the goal of serving country clubs in the Pittsburgh area. Our first hotel customer was Interstate Hotels, also based in Pittsburgh, and Aptech was the first hospitality technology provider to bring daily financial reporting to the hotel industry.

Our business continued to grow and expand into other products and markets. In the early 90s, we had developed a golf tee time reservation system that we sold to Golf Digest. That product spun off, and from there Aptech was able to reinvest in its hotel offerings and launch Profitvue, our Windows-based accounting solution, now known as PVNG. Shortly thereafter, we brought the first business intelligence product to the hotel industry: Execuvue. The early adopters were Interstate, Starwood and Concord. This helped them better manage their properties by creating metrics beyond average daily rates (ADR), revenue per available room (RevPar) and occupancy rates. It was also a perfect tool to bring data together from various sources such as point of sale, property management, guest satisfaction and competitive sets into one platform for analysis. Our customers then requested we create a hotel-specific budgeting/forecasting solution as many hours were being spent on distributing and collecting this information from their properties. The result was the creation of Targetvue, still very popular today.

Over the last 50 years, Aptech has remained a small, close-knit group of dedicated team members that values our customers and each other with the utmost respect. Our customers’ success always has been and still is our main goal. With that in mind, our leadership team worked to find the best group of partners to help our hotel customers grow. We have been fortunate to find that in Jonas Hospitality. We realized that finding the right organization would not only offer our clients more resources and opportunities but our staff members as well. After extensive research, our leadership team knew Jonas Hospitality was the right partner, and we have seen the proof immediately upon joining the Jonas family of brands.

What is ahead for Aptech in its first year as part of Jonas Hospitality?

We are now a big part of a much larger organization and can represent a one-stop shop of hospitality solutions as part of Jonas Hospitality. All of the Jonas team has been so helpful in the transition and is anxious to see us take off and grow. My role in that is to help accelerate and challenge our team. While we are now part of the Jonas Hospitality family, we will also continue to grow our partnerships with other technology companies if it benefits our customers. Our emphasis on our customers will always be at the center of what we do.

Aptech is still the same group of incredible people that the hospitality industry and our hotel customers know, with the same powerful back office and accounting solutions and the same focus on customer service. One difference moving forward is that this partnership opens up new opportunities for us and our customers. Our plan is to expand our strength in the market and offer more products, solutions and integrations to make our customers more effective in their jobs. We will continue to work closely with our hotel clients to create the customized solutions they want/need. The extended roadmap is just at its beginning so there is more to come in the near future.
